Alibaba Cloud has officially launched its first cloud region in Mexico on February 18, marking a significant milestone in its efforts to drive digital transformation and innovation across Latin America. This new infrastructure will provide businesses, startups, developers, and organizations with secure, resilient, and scalable cloud services, reinforcing Mexico’s position as a leading regional tech hub.
With this launch, Alibaba Cloud expands its global infrastructure network to 87 availability zones across 29 regions, further solidifying its leadership in the global cloud market.
“The launch of our Mexico Region underscores our long-term commitment to serving this vibrant market,” said Selina Yuan, President of International Business, Alibaba Cloud Intelligence. “We are not only bringing world-class cloud technology to support local businesses, but also building an inclusive and thriving ecosystem in Mexico together with our local partners, developers, and customers to foster innovation, collaboration, and sustainable growth across Latin America.”
“Mexico City is the technological, financial, economic, investment, and innovation engine of the world, and we are setting a benchmark in the digitalization process. With the arrival of Alibaba Cloud, we are getting closer to the consolidation of becoming a cutting-edge digital metropolis, which increasingly provides more advanced tools for startups, entrepreneurs, and companies in strategic sectors,” said Manola Zabalza, Secretary of Economic Development of the Government of Mexico City.

Powering Innovation with Resilient Cloud Infrastructure
The Mexico Region provides a comprehensive suite of cloud products, including elastic computing, storage, networking, container, and security services, all compliant with ISO and CSA certifications. Designed to meet the demands of Mexico’s e-commerce, logistics, fintech, and telecom sectors, the cloud region ensures low latency and enhanced data sovereignty.
Additionally, Alibaba Cloud offers high-performance and cost-effective services, ensuring businesses of all sizes can leverage cloud computing efficiently. Competitive pricing models, pay-as-you-go options, and customized solutions will enable startups and enterprises across Latin America to optimize costs while scaling operations effectively.
Investing in Mexico’s Digital Future
As part of its long-term strategy for the Mexican market, Alibaba Cloud plans to introduce a series of initiatives to advance the country’s digital ecosystem. These initiatives include talent development programs in collaboration with local universities and institutions to equip the next generation with essential cloud and AI skills, thereby promoting technological inclusion; SME and developer support programs to help small and medium enterprises adopt cloud technologies; and community engagement activities such as hackathons, technology workshops, and innovation challenges to inspire students and startups to utilize cloud and AI tools for solving real-world challenges.
“In addition, leveraging Alibaba Cloud’s global network, Mexican companies can easily tap into other markets, particularly in Asia. Local businesses will benefit from Alibaba Cloud’s technology expertise, market insights, and dedicated support across regions to expand their global footprint,” added Yuan.
