Alibaba Cloud Teams up with HONOR, Zeekr to Drive AI Innovation in Edge Devices

Alibaba Cloud is providing its proprietary large language models and multimodal models to HONOR, a global smartphone maker, and Zeekr, a smart electric vehicle manufacturer in China, as more hardware companies integrate generative artificial intelligence technology into their devices.

The cloud technology provider announced that it has entered into a strategic AI collaboration with HONOR, aimed at co-creating a platform-level AI ecosystem that will redefine the future of intelligent devices. Alibaba Cloud’s proprietary large models have been integrated into HONOR’s latest devices, including the new flagship HONOR Magic7 series, which are available to users in China. Through this partnership, Alibaba Cloud’s cutting-edge AI models, including the Qwen Max language model and the Qwen-VL vision language model, have been seamlessly integrated with HONOR’s intelligent assistant, YOYO. By leveraging Qwen’s advanced capabilities in managing complex inquiries and processing visual intelligence, the on-device assistant supports dynamic, multi-turn conversations, text and image recognition, and even provides relevant suggestions. For instance, users can take a photo of an object, such as a bag, and the system will extract text from the image while offering additional information like shopping advice or store locations. This functionality enhances user interaction by combining visual and linguistic intelligence to provide practical, real-world solutions. Additionally, powered by Alibaba Cloud’s advanced visual generation model, Wan, users can apply stylistic transformations to images and explore creative possibilities directly on their HONOR devices.

Looking ahead, the duo aims to enhance their collaboration in areas like multi-modal AI and cloud-edge integration to foster AI innovation throughout the smart device ecosystem.

Additionally, Alibaba Cloud unveiled its strengthened collaboration with Zeekr, a Chinese smart electric vehicle brand, aimed at redefining its smart cockpit and autonomous driving experience. Alibaba Cloud’s Qwen, an advanced large language model, is now integrated into Zeekr’s smart cockpit system, which enables a variety of intelligent in-car experiences, from answering questions about the vehicle manual to delivering personalized greetings, thereby enhancing user interaction and convenience. Powered by Alibaba Cloud’s multimodal large model Wan’s advanced image generation AI capabilities, Zeekr’s smart system can instantly display vivid images on the vehicle’s central control screen through simple voice commands, such as “a kitten climbing onto the windowsill.” This feature not only enriches in-car entertainment but also encourages fun and engaging parent-child interactions during rides.

The partnerships underscore Alibaba Cloud’s ongoing efforts to utilize its advanced large models and cloud computing technologies to foster AI innovation in edge devices. Last year, Alibaba Cloud announced its collaborations with NVIDIA’s autonomous platform and XPENG, a leading Chinese smart electric vehicle company, to integrate Alibaba Cloud’s large models to improve in-car smart cockpit experiences and shape the future of mobility.

As more enterprises seek to integrate generative AI into their services, Alibaba Cloud is positioning itself as a go-to partner for industries ranging from consumer electronics to automotive technology. The collaboration with HONOR and Zeekr is just the beginning—Alibaba Cloud is poised to expand its AI footprint across other verticals, helping businesses unlock new value through intelligent automation and personalized digital experiences.
