Alibaba issued its annual highlights on brand protection practices and results. Notably, the company reports the number of takedown requests on its platforms declined 44%, while brand participation increased 36%. Alibaba removed 23x more listings proactively than through takedown requests. And 97% of those proactive takedowns were made before a single sale took place. The company also reports improvements to its notice and takedown program, enhancements making it easier for small businesses to protect their IP rights, support of law enforcement investigations, taking infringers to court, and its industry leadership.
