Lazada said Friday it has agreed with Apple to become an authorized online reseller of the U.S. technology company’s popular products.
Starting Friday, consumers in the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore can find Apple products through a “shop-in-shop” on Southeast Asia’s biggest e-commerce platform, followed by a Monday launch in Malaysia and then in Vietnam.
“Lazada is the preferred choice for global brands who, like us, want to drive the explosive growth of e-commerce in Southeast Asia,” said Lazada CEO Max Bittner. “It also underscores our commitment to give consumers better and convenient access to the world’s best brands and products, especially those from Apple.”
As an authorized online reseller, Lazada will offer a wide range of Apple products, including the iPhone X and iPhone 8 models, the MacBook, MacBook Pro, iPad, iPad Pro, Apple TV, Beats by Dr. Dre and other accessories.
Lazada will get stock directly from Apple. The “shop-in-shop” on Lazada is the first of its kind in Southeast Asia, making Lazada the only e-commerce platform in the region to sell authorized Apple products to 560 million consumers. With the agreement, Lazada customers on the platform can enter an Apple-branded environment and browse for 100% original and genuine products, backed by full local warranty and money-back return policy.
Launched in 2012, Lazada is the number-one online shopping and selling destination in Southeast Asia, operating in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The platform helps more than 135,000 local and international sellers, as well as 3,000 brands, reach 560 million consumers. Alibaba Group has an 83% stake in Lazada.
